Obituary Condolences

LOWRY, Joseph Eugene Gene Lowry age 85 passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Sarah C. Lowry, his sons Joseph C. Lowry, Sr. of Lawrenceville, Jeffery E. Lowry of Lawrenceville his daughter-in-law, June B. Lowry of Lawrenceville, Niece, Teresa Steele of San Diego, CA and numerous cousins. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Gaines and Ada Lowry, sister, Doris Lowry Intermill, grandson, Casey Lowry. He retired from the Glidden Paint Company and IC Paint Company after 25 years of service. He worked another 10 years in the Paint Contracting business. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He is a Past Master of Lawrenceville Lodge No. 131 F&AM. A 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason, Past Commander of Atlanta Commandery No. 9, Knight Templar, Past Most Illustrious Grand Master, Grand Council of Georgia, Past Illustrious Master Jason Burr Council of Atlanta. Past High Priest of Mt. Zion Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Atlanta, Past Grand Tall Cadet, Ga. State Forrest Number 181, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Past Sovereign Master of Zarthan Council of the Allied Masonic Degrees, Past Emminent Preceptor Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests. He was a Past Commandant of the Old Guard of the Gate City Guard of Atlanta and served 8 years with Georgia State Defense Forces as The Civil Affairs Officer. He was a Volunteer with the Gwinnett Juvenile Court serving as a panel coordinator for the Youth Diversion Program and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)0 for disadvantaged children. He was a Life Member of Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Atlanta and a Life member of U.S.M.C. League, Ga. Devil Dogs Detachment # 952. Tim Stewart Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 4-8PM. Services will be held Friday, February 28, 2014 at 2PM in the Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. John Whatley officiating.
