KING, James JAMES (JIM) KING On March 24, 2014, Capt. James E. (Jim) King of Fairburn departed this life. A native Virginian of Richmond, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Helen and son, John. He was a deacon of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church of Fairburn as well as the Men's Class Bible Study leader and choir member. He retired in 1982 as Flight Captain from Eastern Airlines, accruing over 20,000 hours of flight time with 40 years of service, progressing from positions of mechanic, flight engineer, pilot and captain. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corp in the South Pacific Campaign with the B-29s. He is survived by two daughters, Jean Doster and her husband Joe of College Park; Janice Guthrie and her husband Neal of Moreland; fiancée, Lucille Stanfield of Union City; sisters, Marion Carey of Richmond, VA; Margaret King of Richmond, VA; brother, Tommy King and his wife Fay of Richmond, VA; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Banks officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
