Dr.  Willard E. HOFFMAN Obituary
HOFFMAN, Dr. Willard Dr. Willard E. Hoffman "Will", age 69, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 14 after battling glioblastoma (stage IV brain cancer) for two years. A Memorial Service will be held at Roswell Presbyterian Church (Historic Sanctuary) on Thursday, April 24 at 10:30 am. A Reception at the church will follow the service. Born in Scranton, PA in 1945, Will received his BS and MS from East Stroudsburg University and his doctorate from Columbia University in NY. While living in NY he worked as a cardiac physiologist at Montefiore Hospital in NY and Danbury General Hospital in CT. He was an adjunct professor at Albert Einstein Medical School and Queens College. In 1981 he was recruited by William Rainey Harper College to establish a Human Performance Laboratory and Cardiac Rehabilitation Program to serve the Chicago area. He retired from Harper College in 2002 after also establishing Cardiac Technology programs including Cardiac Ultrasound. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of Roswell Presbyterian Church and Indian Hills Country Club. He loved to laugh, travel, play with his grandchildren and play golf. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anna Marie. He will be greatly missed by his two children and their families: daughter Christina Salter and her husband, L. Scott, grandchildren Ethan,Grant and Bridget; son Michael and his wife Carly, grandchildren Holly and Luke. He also leaves behind his brother Jack and two sisters, Ann Marie and Randi, all of Scranton. In lieu of flowers, Will asked that memorial donations be made in his name to the Special Olympics. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers, especially Catherine Kahoro from CaraVita Home Care and especially Fred Marshall from Homestead Hospice who enabled them to keep Will comfortable in his home during his long journey.
