Susan Lee Drenning, 66, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on April 19, 2014, after a three year courageous battle with cancer. She was an extraordinary person with a magnetic, fun-loving personality. Everyone who knew Susan loved her. The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at H. M. Patterson & Son - Spring Hill, 1020 Spring Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30309. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 o'clock on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at H. M. Patterson & Son - Spring Hill, 1020 Spring Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30309. She will be buried in Frederick, OK beside her parents and grandparents. Susan was born in Frederick, OK on February 3, 1948. She graduated from Frederick High School and continued on to receive a degree in interior design from The University of Oklahoma. She moved to Asheville, NC where she raised her children and started her retail business. With a fearless spirit, she grew one small gift store into seven successful ladies clothing stores in NC, VA, and SC. After 20 years, she moved to Atlanta, GA and started Susan Lee Fine Ladies Boutique. Her daughter, Melody, joined her company in 1998 and together they enjoyed building the business into a "special occasion" destination for the whole Southeast. It was her passion and she had such a unique sense of style and grace that she ingrained into the store. Among her many talents, Susan was an incredible clothing buyer and had an innate ability to help people look their best. Above all, her children, Melody and Denn, were the highlight of her life. Her selfless, generosity towards them, other family members, and her friends was unmatched. She had an unbelievable talent for home decorating, gardening, and loved entertaining at her home. She also cherished her dogs, She-she and Billy, and treated them royally. She was well traveled and was always looking forward to her next trip to places like Europe and South America. Just as she loved her buying trips to New York, she treasured her time in Oklahoma on her Black Angus cattle ranch that she owned with her brother. Her laughter, optimism, humor, and honesty defined her. Susan is survived by one daughter, Melody Pass and her husband Chris of Atlanta, GA; one son, Dennis Drenning, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Bob Lee and his wife Robin of Frederick, OK; two nephews Jason Lee of Frederick and J.D. Lee and his wife Ginger of Elgin, OK; one great niece Emry Lee and one great nephew Easton Lee. Susan was preceded in death by her mother and father, Eddie and Ruby Jeanne Lee of Frederick, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Office of Gift Records, Emory University, 1762 Clifton Rd., NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30322.
