James MARTIN III Obituary
MARTIN, III, James James A Martin III (Jay), 66, of Atlanta GA, passed away April 24th 2014. He was born June 2nd 1947 in New York City to his father, James A. Martin Jr., and mother, Margaret S. Martin. He attended Harborfields High School, graduated from Boston College and earned an MBA from Long Island University. With his first wife, Meryl, Jay moved to Atlanta in 1971. In 1974, Jay Co-Founded his first investment advisory firm, Roe, Martin & Neiman Inc. Throughout his investment career, he founded and managed many successful partnerships and was a fixture in the financial community. Jay was a philanthropic man and was dedicated to helping children. In 2004, Jay founded the southeastern chapter of Hedge Funds Care (currently named Help for Children). He remained co-chair of the Southeast committee up to his passing. Jay was a renaissance man and had a lust for life. As a child, he was an avid sailor and competed in various domestic and international regattas. As an adult, he was passionate about sporting clays and hunting. He was an exceptional cook and loved to host gatherings for a group of close friends and family. He never met a stranger and was always up for "just one more". The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-6 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill. He is survived by his wife, Jane Martin, children Carrie Kroll (Andy), Jamie Martin (Valerie), Cameron Martin (Shannon) and John Hart (Ally). In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Help For Children.
