Paul BAKER Obituary
BAKER, Paul October 14, 1933 - June 8, 2014 Paul W. Baker died on June 8, 2014. He was born in Morristown, NJ on October 14, 1933, to the late Martha Graves and Paul W. Baker. His grammar school years were spent in Shorewood, WI. In 1949 he moved with his family to Atlanta. He graduated from North Fulton High School and from Duke University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force during the 1950s followed by more than 30 years in the computer field. After nine years with IBM he founded Graphic Data Systems in 1970 and was its President until selling the business in the early 1990s. Graphic Data Systems provided specialized software and computer services to publishers across the United States and England. He loved to travel and enjoyed many trips throughout the United States and abroad. He will be remembered as a man of honor and integrity, as a faithful friend, and as a man who was extremely proud of and devoted to his family. He was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church and of the Cherokee Town and Country Club. He was married for 40 years to Ann Girand who predeceased him, and to Carolyn Riehl Kelly since 1997. He is survived by his three sons and their wives: Dr. Jeffrey Baker and wife Alicia of Durham, NC; James Baker and wife Karen of Atlanta; and Stuart Baker and wife Tracy of Atlanta, and by two step daughters and their husbands: Lynne Williams and husband Milton of Atlanta and Clare O'Shaughnessey and husband Michael of Atlanta. He is survived by his grandchildren, Madeline, Rachel, Natalie, Camilla and Owen Baker and by his step grandchildren, Kelly, Margot and Wells Williams and Jamey and Alex O'Shaughnessey. Paul is also survived by his sister Emily Baker Cleaves and her husband Alan of Dallas, OR. His sister June Baker Smith predeceased him. A family graveside service will be held at St. Anne's Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends on Friday evening June 13, 2014, from 6 until 8 o'clock at the residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anne's Episcopal Church, to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, or to a .
