BERG, Jonathan JONATHAN (JON) MARK BERG Jon Berg of Alpharetta, Georgia, age 53, died unexpectedly July 17, 2014 while on a business trip in Corpus Christi, Texas. Jon was born March 13, 1961 in Farmington, New Mexico, the youngest of four children of George Milton Berg and Hallie Collins Berg. He graduated from Druid Hills High School, in Atlanta, Georgia in 1979 and the Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta, Georgia in 1985. He was employed as a Systems Engineer Southeast/Carolinas by Tripwire, Inc. based in Portland, Oregon. Jon grew up traveling the world with his family, moving with them to Thailand as an infant and living four years of elementary school in West Africa. The family moved to Atlanta in 1970. Early in his career he was an aeronautical engineer with Gulfstream Corporation. Jon's passion for computer technology lead to number of sales computer support positions with various companies including MCI, XACCT Technologies, Marimba, Inc., BMC Software, and since 2007 with Tripwire, Inc. Jon will be remembered for plunging headlong into his passions. He loved the game of soccer, playing in the state championship game while in high school and continuing to play as an adult and coaching his son's teams as they grew up. He was trained as an aeronautical engineer but developed a love and a knack for computers that resulted in a successful career change into computer software sales support. He was an avid photographer, chronicling many a family gathering. He was crazy for VW vans and was a long time member of the VW club of Atlanta, always looking forward to their annual dead of winter campout. He is survived by his two sons, Graham Paul Berg and Duncan Sanders Berg of Alpharetta, Georgia, his spouse Rachel McConnell Berg of Alpharetta, two sisters, Laura Io Berg of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Martha (David) LaVance of Raleigh, North Carolina, brothers-in-law Sanders (Debbie) McConnell of Alpharetta and Michael (Valerie) McConnell of Cary, North Carolina, nieces Grace LaVance (Chris) McGuire of Anchorage, Alaska, Elizabeth LaVance and Caroline LaVance of New Orleans, Louisiana and Melissa McConnell of Alpharetta and nephews Matthew McConnell of Alpharetta, Nathan McConnell of Portland, Oregon and Chris McConnell of Cincinnati, Ohio. Jon was predeceased by his father, George Milton Berg, mother, Hallie Collins Berg, and brother, Kenneth Paul Berg. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Rd, Roswell, GA 30075.
