Obituary Condolences

LASSITER, Mildred Mildred Bernice Means Lassiter was born in Chester, South Carolina. She was the eldest daughter of the late Emory Lewis Means and Catherine Beatrice Martin Means. She graduated from Johnson. C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in May, 1952. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. In August of 1952, she married Thomas Andrew Lassiter, whom she met while at Johnson C. Smith University. In 1972, she received a Master of Arts Degree in Education and Reading from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. Mildred was a dedicated teacher and principal for the Kansas City Missouri school district for 33 years. In 2000, she and her husband moved to Kennesaw, GA to be near their children and grandchild. She attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kansas City, KS for over 30 years. When she moved to Kennesaw, she found her church home at St. Teresa's in Acworth, GA. She is survived by her husband Thomas Andrew Lassiter, daughters Angela P. Lassiter, Tiandra G. Lassiter, her grandchild Cydni N. Martin all of Kennesaw, GA, her sister Emily Means-Willis of Park Forest, IL, cousin Catherine Elizabeth Hawkins of Silver Spring, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 26, 2014, 1:00 p.m., at St. Teresa's Episcopal Church, 5725 Fords Road, Acworth, GA 30101. Condolences can be left at www.GeorgiaFuneralCare.com.
