JONES, Elaine Mrs. Elaine Jones of Clairmont Place, Decatur died peacefully on July 27, 2014 after a short illness. She was 91 years old. The daughter of Charles Harrison-Jones and Frances Margaret Harrison-Jones (nee Dawson), she was born on November 6, 1922 in Matale, Ceylon, which is now known as Sri Lanka, where her father served as a colonial administrator. She was educated in England attending St. David's School and Wycombe Abbey. In World War Two she served as an Airwoman with the Royal Air Force. During the war she met her husband Ralph T. Jones who was an officer in the United States Army. After the war, she immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized U.S. Citizen. Her husband and she had one child, a son Derek H. Jones who is an Attorney in Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Jones was a house wife, worked part time, and was active in volunteer and church activities. A devout Christian, she attended Anglican and Episcopal Churches where ever she lived: locales that spanned three continents. Her volunteer work included serving as the Chairman of the Westchester Committee of Volunteers for the Westchester County Home on the Grasslands Reservation in Valhalla, New York; President of the Friends of St. Mary's-in-the-Field in Valhalla, New York; as well as working in church thrift stores in California, New York, and London, England. Survivors include her son Derek and his wife Yvonne Fuller-Jones; two grandchildren: Quentin H. Jones and Meghan S. Jones of Atlanta; and beloved nephews and a niece in Great Britain and Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband Colonel Ralph T. Jones, her brother Second Lieutenant C.A. Harrison-Jones, who died while serving his country in World War Two, and her sister Mrs. R.S. Cresswell. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of Our Saviour located at 1068 North Highland Ave, Atlanta, Georgia 30306. A. S.
