Carol O'Brien Obituary
O'BRIEN, Carol Carol Jean O'Brien passed away July 30, 2014. Carol was born on December 12,1936 and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana where she graduated from St. Mary's Academy, and attended several colleges taking courses of interest and in cities where she was currently located. Her career started with being an Airline Stewardess with Continental Airlines, then moved to Athens, Ohio where she worked at Ohio University for seven years, then in 1980 she moved to Atlanta and began working at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the School of Chemistry and several other departments on campus for a total of 19 years. After retiring from Georgia Tech, Carol worked at Life Link of Georgia, and Gresham Smith and Partners. After her second retirement, Carol devoted her time to her husband, family, travel, movies, playing cards, needle point, and bird watching. Carol was a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) for 40 years and in 1998 she was the Coordinator for their International Convention that attracted more than 2,000 attendees. Carol was also a member of the St. Ann's Women's Guild. Carol is preceded in death by her parents Ross and Veila Hutton, nephew Kevin Fox, Sr., and great niece Brittney Fox-Watts. She is survived by her loving husband Jerry, sisters Rita Anderson (Ted) and Kathy Plummer (Richard), step sons, Jim O'Brien (Jill) and Andy O'Brien (Miranda), and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at the Catholic Church of St. Ann in Marietta, Ga on Wednesday August 6th at 2:00pm followed by a reception in the church hall at St. Ann's. Graveside services at Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell, GA will follow the reception. Family and friends will greet visitors the night before the funeral at the Roswell Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Robert Pierotti Memorial Fund at Georgia Tech, (check made out to Georgia Tech Foundation) and mailed to the Dean's Office, College of Sciences, 225 North Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30332.
