LONG, Ethel Mrs. Ethel Spruill Long, a resident of Campbell Stone North and longtime resident of Sandy Springs, died August 20, 2014 at the age of 84. She attended North Fulton High School and Georgia State University at which time she was listed in Who's Who in U.S. Colleges and Universities. Mrs. Long was a founding member of St. John United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Bible Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Altar Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents, J. C. Spruill and Ruby Hardeman Spruill and her husband Ernest L. Long. She is survived by daughters, Dr. Judy Long and close family friend Susan Steffey, Dawsonville, Cheryl and Robert Dickens of Roswell, Debbi and Doug Gentile of Cumming, sons, David Long of Atlanta, Michael Long of Woodstock, sister, Evelyn and Art Dugger of Atlanta. Also surviving are grandchildren, Chris Dickens of Gainesville, Alyssa Dickens of Roswell, Angela Gentile of Dacula, Amanda VanderIest of Braselton, Kiefer Spores of Minneapolis, Brandon Pocchio of Woodstock and great grandchildren Josh Russo of Upper St. Clair, PA., Connor Thompson of Dacula, Isabella VanderIest of Braselton and nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. Dr. Gil Watson and Rev. John Purrington will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John United Methodist Church, 550 Mt. Paran Rd., Sandy Springs, GA 30327. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy. Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
