Family-Placed Death Notice

Mrs. Carrie Amelia Echols Rogers, age 83, of Hiram, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2004. She was born August 11, 1920 in Hiram, Georgia to the late Thomas L. and Sarah Hardy Echols. She was a retired school teacher and a member of McEachern United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Rogers. Carrie was a beloved mother, grandmother and sister and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Ron Farris of Dallas, GA; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Lillian Echols of Hiram; a sister, Grace Sheffield of Hiram; granddaughters and their spouses, Laura and John Phillips of Bentonville, Arkansas and Rebecca and Jon Richmond of Jacksonville, Florida; a great-grandson, Jack Phillips; nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from Clark Funeral Home in Hiram with Dr. Robin Lindsey and Reverend Jerry McCurdy officiating. The interment will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Ted Cooper, John Clark, Allen Hardy, Tom Sanders, Hal Echols and Ron Cooper. The family received friends Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Viola Stills Scholarship Fund, McEachern United Methodist Church, 4075 Macland Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127 or The Becky Echols Scholarship Fund, in care of Regions Bank. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram in charge of arrangements.
