Simon Scates Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
Mr. Simon P. Scates, age 38 of Marietta, Georgia, formerly of London, England, died Sunday, July 20, 2003. A loving husband, father, son and brother, Mr. Scates was the co-owner of Blue Moon Salon in Roswell, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Jenia Scates; his daughters, Olivia and Reid Scates; his father, Colin H. Scates of London, England and his sister, Sara Scates of London, England. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Canton Hill. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scates Children's Education Fund, 2207 Cedar Forks Drive, Marietta, GA 30062 or to Jewish Family and Career Services, Atten: Susan Metz, 4549 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd., Atlanta, GA 30338. Dearest Jenia,
My heart is so sad to hear of your loss. I can remember the great times we had with you, Simon and the Ausleys . We were all on the verge, changing from singles to couples to parents. What great wonderful, exciting times! I think of your family often and how I have missed you all.
Simon was a wonderful guy with a warm personality and infectious laugh. We will miss him. We are praying for you and the girls. May God Bless you.

Today was the frist day that I could bring myself to read all the great things about my husband that I already knew and yes this past year was not a easy one for me or my family..........but the one thing I do know is that Simon loved us.....I just want you all to know how much love I feel for me and my babies we will be fine the road will be long and somewhat sad but we will be fine with faith and love from you all.......my love to all Jenia

Dearest Simon,You were always there when i was a little girl growing up being sara's friend made you like my big brother the big brother that i never had i shall always remember how desperate you were to snip at my long hair but never did and how when i was ill at your house you helped me and sara clean it up without mum and dad finding out.Life is such a precious thing to all and i will never understand why yours was taken from you when you had all to live for.
You will always hold a special place in my heart,and i will always be here for Sara and Zak and help them in any way i can my thoughts are with all your family at this sad,sad time always in my heart and forever in thoughts.(Be good up there si cause mum will always be behind you)

I can't believe your gone and i am never going to see you again, i will always remember you and that last time we spoke.
Although i had not seen you for a long time, you will always be in my heart as a good mate. We had so many laughs and good times over the years and although we did not lways see eye to eye, i loved you all the same, we always managed to get over disagreements and remain friends. I missed you so much when you first left london but i was glad you had found love and were happy.
My heart goes out to Jenia, Olivia and Reid for their loss and to Colin and Sara.

To My Beautiful Brother Simon,
Why did such a terrible and tragic thing have to happen to you. I hold with me some of the most wonderful and magical memories of you and of us together. You were my idle, my big strong handsome brother. I love you Simon with all my heart and i only wish that you could have seen Zakari, i have so much sadness to think that he'll never really know what he had in an Uncle and that you would have been the best Uncle a little boy could ever had asked for.

Starting from the begining (in GA) Simon was one of the core group of customers we had even before we moved the business to GA. So many, many memories, good times with a good friend and customer as we helped each other,went through the ups and downs of life together and Simon always with his positive outlook no matter what the situation.

Words alone cannot express my feelings at the loss of Simon. I have known Simon for over 15 years, first as a client, and always as a friend. I just saw him at the salon last Thursday. He was in such a great mood. He had me laughing so hard that I was crying. That was Simon, always giving- even when times were tough. I can't express enough my sympathies to his family and the Blue Moon staff.
