Family-Placed Death Notice
GLASS, Shirley SHIRLEY A. GLASS Shirley A. Glass passed away peacefully while surrounded by her children on November 6, 2009. She was born in Miami Beach, Florida on March 21, 1943. She was predeceased by her parents, Irving and Nickie Applebaum and the love of her life, her husband Sherwin Glass. In 1963 Shirley moved to Atlanta where she raised her family. She is survived by her children, Kimberly, Gregg and Suthida Kaminsky and family friend John Neubert. Shirley was a creative visionary with the ability to bring her ideas to life. She had an adventurous spirit and a passion for the outdoors. Shirley faced life with courage and possessed the ability to overcome each challenge with a positive attitude. During the course of her life she was involved in numerous business activities and at the time of her death served on the Board of Directors of Farmers Furniture. Shirley and Sherwin were avid art collectors and accumulated one of the most distinguished privately held glass art collections in the world. As a couple, they were passionate philanthropists in Jewish causes such as the Anti-Defamation league, The Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta and numerous other organizations. Shirley was a founding member of Temple Sinai in Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at Temple Sinai located at 5645 Dupree Drive, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, Sunday, November 8, 2009, with a graveside burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the Mansion on Peachtree, 3376 Peach- tree Road starting after the interment with prayer services at 6:30. The following night, the family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 in the evening at the Glass residence. Online guestbook may be signed at www.edressler.com.
