FRITTS, Garland GARLAND G. FRITTS Garland G. Fritts (80) died January 21, 2010 from heart complications. Mr. Fritts embodied the spirit of friendship, honesty, hard work and dedication. He was never one to "sit on the sidelines". He participated in life 150%. After graduating from college, he became a fighter pilot in the US Air Force, serving his country. His many years as a general management consultant, then specialist in the healthcare consulting field, offered strategies to benefit entire communities. Continuing his interest in being involved, he was active in his neighborhood association, at the Cathedral of St. Philip, and served on a variety of boards, including Cathedral Towers, the Foundation Board of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, and J. Alexander's Restaurant Group. He was an assistant Cub Scout master as well as Advancements Chair with Boy Scout Troop #232, and in recent months, despite his illness; he organized fund-raising efforts for local fire station #8. Mr. Fritts is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 29 years; two sons, Rich Fritts (Coral Springs, Florida), David Fritts (Atlanta, GA), and daughter, Julie Kaptur (Evergreen, CO), along with five grandchildren; and brother, Bob Fritts (Williamsburg, VA); and two nieces. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at the Cathedral of St. Philip, followed by graveside services at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during two visitation periods: Sunday afternoon, January 24, 4:00-6:00pm at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328; and, Monday, January 25, 1:00-2:00pm, at the Cathedral of St. Philip, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to either: Cathedral of St. Philip (404-365- 1000); Boy Scout Troop #232 C/O Patrick O'Connor, Treasurer, 2587 Dellwood Dr., Atlanta, GA 30305; or Beta Theta Pi Leadership Fund (800-800-BETA).
