CODY, Willene WILLENE MOSS CODY Willene Moss Cody of Jasper, Ga passed away February 28, 2010. Funeral Services will be Thursday March 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Ellijay Church of Christ in Ellijay, Ga with Minister Butch Jones officiating. Interment will be in Jasper City Cemetery. Willene grew up as a Farm Girl in Jasper, Ga. In the late 60's and early 70's, she worked for Mr. Dub Lawson at Lawson Chevrolet. As he mentored her, she helped him establish one of the Finest Chevrolet Dealerships in the Southeast which still operates today in Jasper, Ga. In 1977, she pursued to establish a Chevrolet dealership. The following year, Cody Chevrolet in Dahlonega, Ga was founded by Willene and Bill Cody. She was the first woman in Georgia and the second in the United States to establish a General Motors dealership when business women were not accepted in the auto industry. Year after year, she continued to over achieve in the auto industry by achieving top honors in sales and service satisfaction. The dealership always finished in the top 5% of the Southeast Region and achieving #1 overall Customer Satisfaction Index ranking on several occasions. She achieved Top Sales Volume Dealer for the southeast for Chevrolet cars in July 1986. Also, Willene established the Cody Scholarship at North Georgia College and State University which was the first for female scholar athletes at the University and is still awarded each year. After developing stage 4 breast cancer in 1996, she retired from the auto industry in 1998. Willene was a member of Ellijay Church of Christ. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Bill Cody. Daughter, Donna Poore and husband Ricky of Dahlonega. Son, Clyde Cody and wife Monica of Jasper. Step daughter Brenda Price and husband Jerry of Jasper. Granddaughter, Lindsey Lark and husband Justin of Canton. Grandson, Austin Blevins of Canton. Sisters, Barbara Mabry and husband Billy of Marietta and Joan Locke of Jasper. Several Step Grandchildren and Step Great Grandchildren. Her Soul Sister Jeanette Lawson and husband Dub of Jasper. Numerous Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, In Laws, multitude of Friends and Brothers and Sisters in Christ. The family will receive friends Tuesday March 2, 2010 from 4-8 PM at Bannister Funeral Home in Dahlonega and Wednesday March 3, 2010 from 4-8 PM at Cagle Funeral Home in Jasper.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Ellijay Church of Christ 351 North Main Street Ellijay, GA 30540 or Northside Church of Christ 744 Noah Drive Suite 113 Jasper, GA 30143.
