SPICKERMAN, John, Sr. JOHN FREDERICK SPICKERMAN, SR John F. Spickerman, Sr., former trucking executive, dies John Frederick Spickerman, Sr. died peacefully April 20th in Gainesville, Georgia. Mr. Spickerman was born in Madison County Missouri in 1918 to John and Bird Matthews Spickerman. He was predeceased by his parents, five sisters, one brother and his first wife Claire Morie Spickerman. As a depression era child, his formal education only carried him through to the eighth grade. He began in the trucking industry when he was fifteen years old changing tires. He eventually became a truck driver, mechanic and terminal manager diligently working his way up the ladder. When he retired, he was the President and CEO of Terminal Transport, Inc., it was the tenth largest trucking company in the U.S. He served on the board of directors of Georgia Motor Trucking Association for many years and was a trustee for the Central States Health, Welfare and Pension Fund for almost twenty years representing trucking industry management. He was known throughout his life as a fair and honest man and had the utmost respect of his employees and colleagues. He is survived by his wife of thirty four years Gloria Hall Spickerman and three children, The Rev. Dr. Denni Moss (David) of Washington and Atlanta, Georgia; John F. Spickerman, Jr. (Lance) Atlanta, Georgia; Susan Coletti (George) Stone Mountain, Georgia and three stepchildren, James Sturgis (Susan) Seneca, S.C.; Ron Sturgis (Candace) Tucker, Ga.; JoAnn Hinshaw (John) Gainesville, GA sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be at I pm Friday, April 23rd at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs followed by a visitation at 2pm and a memorial service at 3pm at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30319. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the .
