Family-Placed Death Notice

STEELE, Virginia Virginia Scoggin Steele went to be with the Lord on Aug. 28, 2010. She was a beloved wife, mother and the daughter of Jessie and Arthur Scoggin. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica, British West Indies on April 23, 1927. Virginia married Charles Alexander Steele on Sept. 3, 1950. The Steeles were married nearly 60 yrs. The spent their married life in Decatur and Atlanta where they owned and operated a Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream store. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Sunny Eileen Korman and her son, Arthur Alexander Steele, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Virginia was an active member of the Decatur First United Methodist Church. She was a Prolife Activist and spent many years as a volunteer with anti-abortionist groups. A memorial service will be held on Sun. Sept. 19, 2010 at Decatur First United Methodist Church at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the United Methodist Children's Home 500 S. Columbia Drive Decatur, Georgia 30030 or Decatur First United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Floral Hills Funeral Home, Tucker.
