Family-Placed Death Notice

COOK, Wilbur Wilbur Lee Cook (Cookie) of Tucker, Ga., passed away Tuesday morning, October 12, 2010 at Emory University Hospital. Cookie was born on October 17, 1922 in Atlanta, Ga. He served honorably in the U. S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Curtiss. He belonged to E. A. Minor Masonic Lodge and played harmonica in the banjo band with the Shriners. He retired from Dekalb County where he was employed as a land acquisitionist. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Ragan Cook, son and daughter-in-law, Daryl L. and Catherine Cook, grandson, John L. Cook, all of Tampa, Fl., sons, Keith H. Cook of Tucker, Ga., Gregory N. Cook of Charlotte, NC., sister, Jane Barefoot of Wilmington, NC., brother, Ashby Cook of Atlanta, along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Thursday, October 14, 2010, at 10 am at the Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel with Rev. Larry Ragan and Rev. Marc Burcham officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 pm at the Bill Head Funeral Home and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel. 770-564-2726.
