Dear Charna and Heddi (and rest of family) -- So sorry to hear about your dad. He was always very gracious to me and to my family, and an especially dear friend to my Uncle Bernie and Aunt Marian. (Bernie just told me he had passed away.) I also remember that he schlepped through the streets of Paris with me (as I got everybody lost, my aunt and uncle included, trying to find the RER). . . he was a real trooper. Wishing you comfort in this sad time. Love Lauren (Rich)

I met Mel several times through a mutual friend, Penny Iannuzzi. He was delightful and a great musician. I am so sorry for your loss. He was quite the charmer!

Mel was an extremely talented gentleman - gifted with great kindness, he would always take time to stop playing the piano and spend time with us. He was a treasure, few like him. I think of you, his family, and know I am with you.

I've known Mel since he first began his volunteer work here at Fernbank. He was greatly loved by the entire staff. When he was out after his fall, we had Museum members and guests to come in to ask about him--everyone missed him. He had quite a following and the children adored him. It was a very happy day when he was able to return. It is so very sad to think we won't see him again in this life. I will especially miss his warm, welcoming smile and his uplifting music.
With my deepest and heartfelt sympathy,
