Family-Placed Death Notice
CANSLER, Dale Dale B. Cansler of Downingtown Dale Bruce Cansler, 73, of Downingtown, PA, died at home among his friends and family on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, having fought a courageous battle against Parkinson's disease for 16 years. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Helen and Bruce Cansler. Dale graduated from the University of Florida, where he played varsity football for four years and remained an ardent Gator fan. He served as an officer in the Adjutant General's Corp in the U.S. Army for two years before starting his career in corporate America. In 1992, he retired from Lukens Steel of Coatesville after 17 years of service with the company. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Tamara C. Cansler, his two daughters, Kristen Cansler Sparks and her husband, Andrew of Unionville, and Linda Cansler William and her husband, Chris of Charlotte, NC; and by his daughter-in-law, Laurie Cansler of Bellevue, Washington. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy C. Abercrombie and her husband, Dan of Morrow, Georgia; and four grandchildren, Cole and Shelby Cansler of Bellevue and Christian and Caleb William of Charlotte, NC. He is predeceased by his son Eric Dickson Cansler. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 23 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hopewell United Methodist Church, 852 Hopewell Road, Downingtown, PA. The Cansler family will be receiving friends at the church one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dale's memory may be sent to the Michael J.
