Family-Placed Death Notice

O'KELLEY, Hazel Mrs. Hazel Driskell O'Kelley, 82, of Atlanta, transitioned to her eternal home June 26, 2011. Hazel lived a beautiful and peaceful quiet life surrounded by loving family and friends. Mrs. O'Kelley had a special love for children and devoted her time assisting working parents raise many children. Homegoing services will be held Saturday July 2, 2011, 12:30 P.M. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 6175 Campbellton Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30331. Reverend Aaron L. Parker Sr., Ph. D., Senior Pastor and Reverend Michael Manning, Officiating. The remains will be placed in state at 10:30 A.M. Interment Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Drive, S.W. Atlanta, Ga. 30310. Visitation will be held this evening at the mortuary from 7:00-8:00 P.M. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, a loving and devoted son and dedicated daughter-in-law, Jeremiah (Christine) O'Kelley, Jr.; grandchildren: Andre' O'Kelley, Tomeka Daniel, Timmeka Lemons, Calise Petty, and April O'Kelley; 12 great-grand children and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family and friends are requested to assemble at 3311 Cedar Island Dr. S.W. Atlanta, Georgia 30311. Donald Trimble Mortuary, Inc., 1876 Second Avenue (404) 371-0772-3.

The Childs and Godfrey family gives our sincere sympathy in the loss of our friend and former Church Member. There are nothing but pleasant memories. Our prayers are with Jerry and the entire family. I would like to say that Mrs. O'Kelley was my mother away from home. She kept Andre and I in line, especially during nap time, when we chose to talk. I can remember still having a pop on my backside with the silver brush set, she kept on her dresser. All of the structure and guidance, helped me to become the patient mother I am today. She was a precious lady, who would always give you a hug at church, or even in the grocery store. I will cherish her memory forever. May God keep you in his care, during this time of sorrow.

Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to Jerry and Chris at this time of bereavement.

We were so saddened to hear of our dear friend's passing. She was such a lovely, classy, quite and at times funny lady.

We always kept in touch and often visited her at home, sometimes running errands or just to take her flowers to brighten her day. She will be missed, already we miss her but God wanted a lovely flower to add to his garden and picked her.

May God give you continued strength to endure now and in the days ahead and may fond memories help comfort you!

Wow, i am stunned at this moment and i am truly sorry for the loss of Hazel, that was my Aunt Wadiebell cousin and she would come over and I just liked her she would always tell me that I was pretty and looked just like my Mom Wilhelmina, so saddened at this moment, just glancing through the ajc and came upon her name, may you rest in Piece, God Bless the family...

I first met Hazel O'Kelley in 1978. As a working mother, I was in need of personal childcare. Mrs. O'Kelley loved and cared for my six month old daughter until age five. She also cared for my son until that same age. My husband and I were blessed to have her in our lives, she was also our friend. To Jerry and family, you have our prayers. I miss her already.
