HARRIS, Edward, Sr. EDWARD ALAN HARRIS, SR. Edward Alan Harris Sr. "Peaky", passed away on July 15, 2011. He was a loving, kind and happy son, father, brother, uncle, husband, and grandfather. He received his early education in the Atlanta Public School System, and graduated from Margaret Fain Elementary School in 1963, and Harper High School in 1968. He completed his undergraduate education at North Carolina A&T where he played football and earned a Bachelors' Degree in Business in 1972. He became an entrepreneur and owned two successful retail businesses, Sears and Western Auto in Newnan, Georgia, where he lived with his family, and served as a devoted member of Greater Mount Zion A.M.E. Church for many years. He served on the trustee board and was a new member of the choir. He was a member and former president of the Newnan Riders, an avid sports fan, and enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in their activities and achievements. He is survived by his wife, Delphine Harris; son, Edward Alan Harris II; daughters, Daphne Harris Hernandez (Raul) and Tonya Harris-Lynn (Christopher); grandchildren: Erika Cain, Christiana Lynn, Christian Lynn, and Naomi Lynn; mother: Lillie M. Harris; sisters: Yvonne Harris Meadows and Gwendolyn Harris Middlebrooks (James). He was preceded in death by his father: Edward Montague Harris and brother: Alfred Augustus Harris Sr. Funeral services for Edward Alan Harris Sr. will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Greater Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, 12 Duncan Street, Newnan, Georgia 30263, Rev. David Trott, Pastor. Rev. James Avery Alexander, officiating. Interment at Lincoln Cemetery, 2275 Joseph E Boone Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30314. Viewing will be held today from noon until 7 P.M. from our chapel. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 3635 Fairlane Dr., NW Atlanta, GA 30331 at 9:15 AM the day of service.
