Family-Placed Death Notice
TIGNOR, Charles, Sr. CHARLES WESLEY TIGNOR, SR. Charles Wesley Tignor, Sr. of Hoschton, previously of Kennesaw, passed away on December 12, 2011 at the age of 79 at Peachtree Christian Hospice, following a lengthy illness. Born on October 1, 1932 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Forrest Derrieux Tignor and Adele James Tignor, Wesley was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond and received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management in 1953 from Georgia Institute of Technology. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. A Georgia resident for 58 years, he retired from Lockheed Martin of Marietta in 2000. Wesley was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and enjoyed traveling and gardening. He was a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church, St. Andrews Society of Atlanta, and Sigma Chi Fraternity. Mr. Tignor was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 26 years, Edwina "Eddie" Monroe Tignor, and his wife of 20 years, Edith "Dede" Shigley Tignor. He is survived by his sons, Charles W. (Robin) Tignor, Jr. of Hoschton, Michael D. (Sherry) Tignor of Tucker; brother, Forrest (Ronda) Tignor of Manakin Sabot, VA; sister, Patricia (William) McPherson of Daleville, VA; grandchildren, Lauren Tignor of Savannah, Michael D. (Leslie) Tignor, Jr. of Nairobi, Kenya, C. Wesley (Rebecca) Tignor III of Dacula, and Trent Tignor of Hoschton; stepson, Joe Binford of Atlanta. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock. A memorial service to celebrate Wesley's life will be held at 2:00 o'clock, Thursday, December 15, 2011, in the H.M. Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, GA, 30328. Inurnment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wesley's memory can be given to Peachtree Christian Hospice, Alzheimer's Association (alz.org), Sigma Chi Fraternity - Beta Psi Chapter, or to your favorite charity. Arrangements by H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel.
