DAY, Doris L. DORIS LINN DAY Doris Linn Day, age 97, of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Joplin, MO, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012, in Atlanta. She was above all else a loving wife and mother. Born June 3, 1914, in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Ray Henry Linn and Amy Whitwell Linn. She married Richard Foster Day in Joplin on October 10, 1939. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2001 in Joplin. Known for her positive energy and love for life, she traveled throughout the United States. She lived in Missouri, Delaware, California, New Mexico, and Georgia, and enjoyed sharing a vacation home in the hills of Southern California with her family. She had a love and respect for nature and enjoyed gardening. Doris was interested in current events throughout her life, was an avid reader, and poetry always touched her heart. But most of all, she loved celebrating life's special moments with family and friends. It is in this same spirit that her family and friends now celebrate her life and the love she shared with them. Survivors include three sons, Leslie Linn Day and his wife Deborah Carter Day of Ann Arbor, MI, Russell Martel Day and his wife Cynthia Wapensky Day of Atlanta, GA, and Frank Nelson Day and his wife Catherine Crowley Day of Riverside, CA; ten grandchildren, Sean Day and his wife Jenni, Ryan Day and his fiancée Emily Doan, Cale Day and his wife Ana, Cory Day and his wife Kathy, Ashley Day and her husband Phil Holland, Janice Day Beckman and her husband David, Jeana Day, Devin Day and his wife Alex Feldt, Alan Day, and Austin Day; ten great-grandchildren, Trevor Day, Ava Day, Elizabeth Day, Ian Day, Nora Day, Allana Beckman, Phoebe Holland, Nathan Beckman, Henry Day, and Sophia Day; and caregiver and close family friend, Bennie Rivers. Private interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doris' honor to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, 1345 Piedmont Avenue, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30309. Attn: Rebekka Kuntschik.
