Family-Placed Death Notice

HERSHEY, Barbara Barbara Levine-Hershey died on Sunday April 23, 2012 of natural causes. She is survived by her daughter, Cyndi; her son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Mollye Levine; her granddaughter, Rayna; and her sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Irv Epstein. Barbara was a pioneer in hospital pharmacy. She came to Georgia from New Haven, CT to follow her husband, Robert Levine in 1954. She was among the first female hospital pharmacists in Atlanta. She received multiple honors for her contributions to the Pharmacy profession. In the late 1970's, as Chief Pharmacist of Doctors Hospital in Tucker, she implemented a computer management system for "unit dose" and dispensing of medications that has subsequently become a norm in Hospital Pharmacy practice today. Barbara was also an avid gardener. As a "Master Gardener" she served as a docent at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. She regularly volunteered until her health prevented her from continuing in that position. She had a zest for life that took her traveling around the world. She will be gravely missed by all who loved her. An on-line guestbook is available at www.edressler.com and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to either Weinstein Hospice or the . Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, TODAY, Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. Arrangements by Dressler's Jewish Funeral Care, 770-451-4999.
