Family-Placed Death Notice
KERR, Ellen Ellen Leigh Kerr, 47, of Atlanta, passed away after a year-long battle with cancer on Saturday, March 24, 2012. A celebration of life will be held 11:00AM Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Church of the Atonement, 4945 High Point Rd. NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30342 followed by a reception in the church hall. Ellen was born May 3, 1964 in Atlanta. She was a graduate of Ridgeview High School and the University of Georgia, where she majored in painting and drawing. She leveraged her artistic talents in her career as a member of Atlanta's burgeoning film industry, in which she worked in the Art Department on over 25 motion pictures with credits for buying, set dressing and prop work on films including 'Joyful Noise', 'Wanderlust', 'Hall Pass' and 'Mr. Brooks' among others. Her expertise and experience as a buyer will be missed by her film community. Ellen entertained family and friends with her sharp wit. She had countless friends and touched many lives, most recently through her blog that humorously and vividly chronicled all aspects of her fight for life. She also had a true love for animals and a special place in her heart for schnauzers. She is survived by her mother, Jane Robbins Kerr, of Atlanta; her sister Leslie Kerr Caulfield, brother-in-law James Caulfield, nephew Patrick Caulfield of Bethesda, MD; and her schnauzer baby, Ridley. Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved father, W. Douglas Kerr.
