Family-Placed Death Notice

JOHANNINGMEIER, William Mr. William Henry Johanningmeier, Jr., 64, of LaGrange died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Johanningmeier was born February 2, 1948 in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late William Henry Johanningmeier, Sr. and Helen Veronica Stevens Johanningmeier. He was a graduate of St. Pius X in Atlanta, GA and Georgia State University. He had lived in LaGrange for the past 32 years and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lanett, AL. Mr. Johanningmeier was employed as a supervisor for New Ventures before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Susan Motz Johanningmeier; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Chad Wolff; three sons, Fredrick Johanningmeier, Paul Johanningmeier, and James Johanningmeier; 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Robin Kalamaro, Margaret and Richard Christman, and Janet and John Van Norden; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Sherry Johanningmeier; grandchildren, Jerad Johanningmeier, William Johanningmeier III, Skylar Wolff, Chase Wolff, Alyssa Johanningmeier, and Caleb Johanningmeier; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andrew and Anne Motz; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Mass was held 11:00 A.M. (EST) Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Lanett, AL. The rosary was said Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at the church. A graveside memorial service will be hosted by the family at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 21, 2012 in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, GA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 2050 Chamblee Tucker Road, Ste C, Atlanta, GA 30341 in memory of Mr. William Henry Johanningmeier, Jr. Arrangements are by Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Brid- ge Road, LaGrange, GA 30240 (706) 884-8636 www.shlagrange.com

I was classmate & fellow basketball teammate of Bill's in high school and at GSU. Have not seen him at any reunions, but always have fond memories of him. He was always smiling and well liked, an all around good guy. I will keep him and his family in my prayers.
