Family-Placed Death Notice
LANE, George, Jr. Mr. George Ulysses Lane, Jr., age 62 (Attorney) entered into rest July 14, 2012. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 20, 2012 at 1:00 PM in our Cascade Chapel. Family and friends will assemble at the chapel at 12:30 PM. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. He leaves to cherish fond memories daughter Jamila Lane and son George U. Lane, III; other loving relatives and friends. Public Viewing Friday at 12Noon at Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel, 1199 Utoy Springs Rd., SW Atlanta, GA 30331 404-349-3000

Recently I learned of George's passing, and I haven't seen him since 1969. We grew up together in the same neighborhood. George was always kind, well-mannered and approachable. I can see by the sentiments of the others in this guest book that that spirit remained with him throughout his life. Godspeed George.

George's presence will be missed, he was so kind and sincere, always willing to assist, was patient enough to answer your question(s) even when you did not know how to ask the question(s) "the right way", he was so instinctive. He will be missed but always remembered.

My condolences goes out to George "Butch" Lane family in their hour of sorrow. Butch had a beautiful spirit of himself and was a gentle giant. We grow up in Chattanooga and attended Rose of Sharon along with his wonderful parents who I love as if they were my second set of parents. May God give you strenght and be with you. He will be miss!

I also worked with George at GSA and depended upon him for legal advice in carrying out responsibilities in security, the Privacy Act, and the Freedom of Information Act. He was a fine gentleman, an excellent attorney, and was always professional and helpful. I will remember him in my prayers. May God bless and keep his family.

I will be remembering the Lane family in my prayers. George "Butch" Lane grew up in my neighborhood and he and his parents were wonderful members of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church during my childhood. He is now home with his mom and dad...to God be the glory for his life.

George, God looked down and saw your suffering and said come home my child it's time to rest. No more pain you have to endure on earth for you have served your purpose.
