Sis Doris, Pam, Mike, and Jerry Jr....your husband...your father was a shining example of the African American husband and father. He was truly what God meant in the "imago dei"...the making in God's own image. Dea Driskell exemplified the diaconal ministry...a servant extraordinaire...I never saw a brother work so hard for a church. He clearly set the standard. The Greater Bethany Baptist Church will miss his physical presence...but we all know that he is now a part of that glorious great cloud of witnesses that the writer of Hebrews spoke of. I'm gonna miss you brother, I'm gonna miss you.

We extend to you our deepest sympathy in the loss of Deacon Jerry. We know how much he loved his family and Greater Bethany Baptist Church. Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning when you savor the memories of the work that he did not only for his family and church but countless others. Deacon Jerry was on my side when I questioned why a female wasn't on the Trustee Board and I requested to be a member of the Trustee Board and conference attendees voted me in. Thanks to you and Deacon Jerry for inspiring us to become a servants for the church and to give freely of our time.
