Family-Placed Death Notice

SWIATEK, Kathryn Kathryn Joann Swiatek, 64, formerly of Marietta, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Decatur, Georgia on Monday, August 27, 2012. Kathryn, was the daughter of the late Robert J. Swiatek and the late Dorothy Helen Marie Swiatek, who brought their family from Chicago, Illinois to Marietta in 1954. Along with her siblings, Jacqueline Swiatek Hornsby, Lou Ann Swiatek Shearer, Robert Anthony Swiatek, and, Vivian Swiatek Robins, Kathryn is survived by her brothers-in-law, Craig Shearer and Glenn Robins. Kathryn was adored and loved by her nephews, Maximillian Hornsby of Destin, Fla., Zachary Hornsby of Peoria, Il, Christopher Swiatek of Marietta, Carson Hornsby of Atlanta, Ballard Shearer of Marietta, Baxter Shearer of St. Simons Island, Ga., Chase Swiatek of Marietta, and Jack Robins of Marietta, along with Gabrielle Robins, her only niece, also of Marietta. Kathryn attended St. Joseph's Elementary School in Marietta, Marywood High School for Girls in Evanston, Illinois, and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana. She later graduated from the Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, Ga. Her life revolved around her love for animals and her dedication to their care. She volunteered at numerous shelters in metro Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to Lifeline Animal Project, www.
