Family-Placed Death Notice

STROUD, Verneda VERNEDA STROUD Verneda Stroud, affectionately called "Neat", of Decatur, entered into eternal rest on December 7, 2012, after an acute illness. She was the oldest daughter of the late Harold Elton and Annie Mae Stroud. Born in Atlanta, she attended Luther Judson Price High School and graduated in 1968. "Neat" was the devoted mother of a son, Marques, whom she adored. She was also "Mama Neat" to four grandchildren that she adored and who adored her. Homegoing services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012; 11:00 A.M. at Providence Baptist Church, 1773 Hawthorne Avenue College Park, Georgia 30337. Reverend Charles E. Nesbitt, Jr., officiating. The remains will be placed in state at 9:30 A.M. Interment Resthaven Gardens of Memory. A visitation will be held this evening at the mortuary from 6:00-7:00 P.M. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted son, Marques (Shantavia) Stroud; adorable grandchildren, Christopher, Brian, Jasmine, and Brittany; dedicated and loving siblings; sisters, Rhathelia and Vanzella Stroud; brothers, Mack, Donnis, and Johnny (Carolyn) Stroud, all of Decatur; nieces and nephews, Gemina, Sophia, Rhathelia Nicole, Danielle, Jarquez, Darin, Dante, and a special nephew/son, Donnis Stroud, Jr.; eleven aunts; one great-aunt; one "special" aunt; eight uncles; and a host of extended family and friends.
