Family-Placed Death Notice

JACQUES, Anne Anne Jacques, MD, 69, of Dunwoody, died December 23, 2012 at Emory University Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, William R. Jacques; son William Michael Jacques and his wife Rebecca; daughter Dr. Caroline Michelle Jacques; and sister in law Patricia J. Bader and her husband Richard. Dr. Jacques was born October 30, 1943 in Lebanon, PA and was the daughter of the late Charles Daniel Stieglitz and late Mittie Ruth Wood. She graduated from Mercer University and continued her studies at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and completed her residency at Emory University School of Medicine. After completion of her residency Dr. Jacques joined Emory University School of Medicine's faculty and retired after 41 years of service (including residency). Most of her time was served as a pediatrician for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding Hospital and Grady Memory Hospital. She was part of Emory University's faculty throughout her tenure. Known for being a passionate and devoted teacher, Dr. Jacques was a tireless and committed advocate for the care of all children. During her 41 years as a member of the Emory faculty, she was always patient and composed as she taught generations of physicians both the art and science of pediatric medicine. Through her 41 years of work experience she touched 1,000s of lives. Dr. Jacques was a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and served six years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia chapter. Upon her retirement the Emory Department of Pediatrics honored their mentor and friend with a newly established Anne Jacques Excellence in Primary Care Award. The award will be given annually to the Emory pediatric resident that most closely represents the primary care qualities and attributes embodied by Dr. Jacques. Funeral services will be held TODAY, on December 27, 2012 at 2 o'clock at Patterson's Arlington Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Interment will be private at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Anne Jacques Award for Excellence in Primary Care Pediatrics: www.emory.edu/give (Select "School of Medicine," then write in "Jacques Fund" in the "Other" box - School of Medicine development office - 404.727.3127).
