Family-Placed Death Notice

BURNETT, Clarence Mr. Clarence Edwin Burnett, 82, of Carrollton, Georgia died Monday, March 18, 2013. Mr. Burnett was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 1, 1930, the son of the late Christopher Columbus Burnett and Corine Sexton Burnett. After serving one year in the United States Navy he returned to his home of East Point, Georgia and opened Burnett Motors on Stewart Avenue. In 1970 he moved to Carrollton, Georgia, where he was the owner and manager of Burnett VW. He worked in the automobile business until his retirement due to his illness of Alzheimer's. All who worked with him spoke about his character and that he was always putting others' needs before his own. He was known for his integrity and love for God and his family. He was a long time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and later joined Midway Baptist Church after moving to his home in that community. Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Burnett; children, Mike (Cathy) Burnett, Donna (John) Pittman, David Burnett; son-in-law, Van Sorrells; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Carlton Burnett; sisters, Carolyn Grizzard, Christine Olvey. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Sorrells and brother, Chris Burnett. Funeral service will be Thursday, March 21 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service time. Interment will be in the Carrollton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Alzheimer's Support Group, P.O. Box 1273, Carrollton, GA 30112.
