Family-Placed Death Notice

MASON, Mary Mary Dorough Mason, 82, of Roswell, Georgia went to heaven Sunday, March 31, 2013 at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center. Mary was born in January of 1931 in Tallassee, Alabama to J T and Mildred Dorough and lived there until after her marriage to Lewis Mason in June of 1949. They moved to Georgia living in Rockmart, Cedartown and Marietta before settling in Roswell in 1954. Mary's mother and father, Mildred Evelyn Hardy Dorough and J T Dorough and her sister Jettie Dorough Golden preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Lewis S. Mason, son and daughter-in-law, Sandy and Linda Mason, daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Gary Cargle, son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Cindy Mason, grandchildren, Suzanne Jones, Brittney Cargle and Chanda Ganues, great grandchildren, Kyle Gayler, Angela Gayler, Arron Ganues, and Tiffany Dabbs, great-great grandchild, Autumn Rain, sister-in-law Mary Mason Boozer, nieces, Becky Golden Longshore, Ellen Golden Feil, Jewel Dean Mason, Mary Anne Barnes Short, Beverly Howell Barnes, Vivian Barnes, and Joyce Barnes, nephews, Mac Barnes, Mike Barnes, Dub Mason, David Golden, Bureon Ledbetter, and Ken Ledbetter, 17 great nieces and nephews and 26 great-great nieces and nephews. Mary worked at the Roswell Post Office, the Census Bureau and the Fulton County School System. She loved reading and books so she worked as a Library Assistant at Spalding Drive Elementary School and Sandy Springs Middle School for 25 years. After retiring from Fulton County she worked as the Librarian at Roswell United Methodist Church. Recently, Mary and Lewis moved to their favorite beach area Foley, Alabama to be closer to their children and nieces. Mary, in accordance with her wishes, was donated to the University of South Alabama Medical School. A 'Celebration of Life' will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Roswell United Methodist Church Chapel with a visitation to follow in the Parlor of the church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Lion's Club Lighthouse for the Blind through your local Lion's Club or Lighthouse International.
