I knew Harlan from Lutheran Church of the Apostles. I liked him a great deal. He was full of both wisdom and self-depricating humor. He will be missed. His friendship was also of great importance to my parents, Lucille and Jerry Ehlers. I'm so very sorry for your loss, Marylyn.

My heart goes out to each of the family members. Harlan was a man with a kind gentle heart who would talk with anyone and give good advice. May the good memories fill your heart.

We met the Dahls in 1973 at Apostles Lutheran and enjoyed worshipping with them and joining with them in many church-related activities. When a group of us decided to build homes in Providence Farms, we were the first couples to move in. We have many favorite memories of picnics, Dinner Club dates, and other activities. We shall miss him.

I was baptized as a 28 year old adult at Apostles Lutheran in 1979. From the day Genie and I first came to Apostles, Harlan had been a wonderful friend and mentor. He has been one of the two or three greatest influences on my spiritual journey. We spent many a year together in Bible studies. Harlan was the Rector of my Via de Christo weekend. His wisdom and grace were a wonderful role model of a man who loved God and others. He was a shining light in my life. I will always thank God for Harlan's presence in my life. It is a true joy to have been able to call him friend.
