Family-Placed Death Notice

PENN, Keone Mr. Keone Denard Penn, age 27, passed away on June 20, 2013. Keone was the first person in the world cured of sickle cell through a cord blood stem cell transplant. The Georgia Senate Bill 148 known as "Keone's Law" personifies his life's purpose and commitment to mankind. Keone proudly attended the Art Institute of Atlanta, Culinary Arts Program. Homegoing services will be held Friday, June 28, 2013 at Solid Ground Christian Ministries, 6133 Redan Road, Lithonia, Georgia at 11:00 a.m. His remains will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Keone is preceded in death by his father in life, Frederick Brodnex. He is survived by his mother, Leslie Penn Brodnex of Lawrenceville, GA; his sister, Seterria Renea Brodnex, Esq. of Atlanta, GA. He also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends including his aunt, Beverly Kennedy of Snellville, GA. His visitation will be held TODAY from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Gregory B.
