Franz SCHNEIDER Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

SCHNEIDER, Franz FRANZ SCHNEIDER Atlanta residential home designer and builder, Franz Schneider passed away of heart failure on July 13. Franz was born in Sarasota Florida but has been a resident of Atlanta since 1971. Over the past thirty years, Franz's creative and talented modern design has impacted the landscape of intown Atlanta before modern design took hold in Atlanta. Franz built residences and townhomes in Buckhead, Midtown West, Morningside and Brookhaven. In the more recent past, Franz concentrated his designs in the Berkeley Park neighborhood. Twenty years ago he had the vision this Westside neighborhood would be on the rise, and custom designed and built a house for himself as well as bought up surrounding dilapidated bungalows replacing them with his signature style of modern architecture on Antone Street. He was an accomplished designer and builder who showed creative strength to resist the compromises of many designers who chose to follow mass common popular taste. Franz was a special character who was admired and loved by family, friends and his subcontractors who helped him achieve his visions. He is survived by his parents Lou & Fran Schneider and his siblings, Kurt, Greg and Paula Schneider. In honor of Franz, donations to Habitat for Humanity will be appreciated. A Celebration of Franz will be held on Friday August 23 6:30 pm at Café Jonah at 3188 Paces Ferry Place NW 30305.
