Family-Placed Death Notice
Mr. Barry W. Banister, age 54 of Marietta, GA died Thursday, February 9, 2006. A graduate of Russell High School in East Point, GA, Barry attended the University of West Georgia, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was employed in the automotive industry in metro Atlanta for over 30 years. For the past 15 years he owned several satellite dealerships and a collision repair shop. In the last 3 years, Barry bought and sold real estate. A faithful member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, Barry served several terms as Deacon and taught a high school senior, Sunday school class. He was a member and past president of the Georgia Independent Automobile Dealers Association, where he was currently serving as Chairman of the Board. An incredible husband to Jean, his wife of 31 years, everyone knew their love and adoration for each other was unsurpassed. Barry was an amazing father and a wonderful spiritual leader to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Banister, Jr. Barry is survived by his loving wife, Jean Granese Banister; his mother and step-father, Lee Banister Smith and Warner Smith of East Point; his son, Todd Banister of Atlanta; daughter, Dana Banister of Marietta; his sister, Jerri Bellah of Monticello, GA; his brother, David Banister of Stockbridge, GA; a large extended family and many friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13 at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church with the Reverend Bryant Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 11 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 9 p.m. and Sunday, February 12 from 2 until 6 p.m. at Patterson's Canton Hill Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Campus Crusade for Christ 100 Lake Hurt Place, Orlando, FL 32832. Arrangements by H.M.
