Family-Placed Death Notice

George A. Hanson passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2003, at his home in Big Canoe, Georgia. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel at Big Canoe. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Georgia Mountain Hospice, P.O. Box 580, Jasper, Georgia 30143. Hanson was born in Alabama, but spent most of his childhood in Griffin, Georgia. He graduated from Griffin High School and the University of Georgia, class of 1965. He served chambers of commerce and development authorities in several southeastern states for 30 years, and was a Certified Economic Developer. He was a former board member for the Metropolitan United Way, and active in the Boys Scouts of America-both as an eagle scout and later as a commissioner. He was a member of the Atlanta Leadership Class. At the time of his death he was an industrial real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate in Atlanta. His wife, Sue Powers Hanson; two children, Gordon Todd Hanson and Jill Kathryn Hanson; and two granddaughters, Lea and Ella, survive Hanson. Arrangements by H.M.
