Family-Placed Death Notice

ROGERS, Col. Ira (Ret.) Colonel Ira Wesley Rogers, born September 7, 1919 in Jefferson, GA died on October 17, 2013 at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Ruth Rogers; son, Charles W. Rogers; and sister, Harriet Lloyd. He is survived by his son, Ira Edward Rogers; daughter, Betty Stewart, and husband, Fred; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Colonel Rogers served his country during World War II and the Korean War and retired from the Air Force. After retirement, Colonel Rogers and his wife of 68 years enjoyed traveling in their Airstream trailer touring the U.S., but their favorite place was Top of Georgia where he took a leading role in the park's development. A graveside service will be held at College Park Cemetery on November 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Arrangements made under the direction of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA.
