Family-Placed Death Notice

MILLER, Christine CHRISTINE JOYCE MILLER Christine Joyce Miller nee Anderson was born in New York on 27th July 1974 and died on October 21st 2013 in Atlanta, aged 39 after a 6 year battle with breast cancer. She was (and still is) adored by her husband of 17 years, Duncan Miller and leaves two wonderful kids who are reflections of her best qualities, Alexa (8) and Luke (6), and parents Ike and Phyllis Johnson. She grew up in Staten Island, NY attending Wagner High School and subsequently studying Broadcast Journalism/Speech Communication at Syracuse University. It was during a study abroad program at SU that she met and fell in love with her husband, Duncan. They lived together in London for 8 years where she worked in TV and fashion, including gigs as on-air auction assistant for bid.up TV and production work for Wall-to-Wall television. Thereafter the Millers moved to Atlanta to start a family and it was shortly after the birth of her son that she was diagnosed. Despite her illness she kept on enjoying life to fhe fullest and also founded and ran several fashion businesses in Atlanta including Eclectic Gal Boutique. Now, 6 years is a long time for a young woman to be sick, but be assured that some of the happiest moments of our lives came during this period from living life in ways that we would not have done had she been in perfect health. We traveled and laughed and loved and had fun and enjoyed each other as a family in ways which will provide enduring comfort long after the pain of losing her has faded. And the intimacy that comes to a couple from care giving during illness is also a rare gift as it turns out. Christine grew into being a spectacular woman in her 39 short years - a nurturing mother, a beauty to behold, an adventurous independent spirit, a girl with a sense of style that was both unique and memorable, and a wife who was (and still is) just plain wonderful. Much missed but never forgotten. And always loved. Her life will be celebrated at Paris on Ponce, Atlanta, November 9th, 7pm. All who knew the Miller family welcome. A. S.
