Barry BROWN Obituary
Barry Maxwell Brown, 71, of Lawrenceville and Jasper, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2014, after a four-year battle with cancer. Barry was born in Jacksonville, FL on August 2, 1942. He was preceded in death by his son Barry Maxwell Brown, Jr., who was killed in a service-related mission with the U.S. Navy Seals; his parents, Robert Maxwell Brown and Joyce Eagerton Brown. He is survived by his wife, Linda Furneaux Brown of Lawrenceville; son Stephen Brown of Parkersburg, West Virginia; stepson William J. Miller III (Tracey) of Lawrenceville, GA and three grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Janice Reynolds (Scott) of Blythe, South Carolina. Barry graduated from Largo High School, Largo, Fl. and the University of Florida. He also attended Oglethorpe University and Emory University. Barry was a loyal supporter of the University of Florida and the Gators. He worked for Western Electric/Lucent Technologies in Atlanta until his retirement. He was a scholar, and since departure from college his thirst for knowledge through reading intellectual material grew until his passing. Barry enjoyed his home in the North Georgia Mountains, raising Border Collies, woodcarving and politics-serving on Newt Gingrich's campaign staff for Congress. Memorial services will be held at a later date. To express condolences, please sign our online guest book at www.flaniganfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by: Junior E.
