Betty GOBLE

Obituary Condolences

GOBLE, Betty Betty Morin Goble, 76, of Snellville, GA passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 6:30 pm. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel. Betty was born in Waynesboro, VA in 1937 to the late Elzear and Aurora Morin. She was their only child and a joy to her parents. Betty grew up in the quiet Shenandoah Valley of VA. She always loved going back and seeing her beloved mountains. Betty attended Waynesboro High School and Mary Washington College in VA. She then began her career as a teacher that spanned 33 years. She taught in many states because her husband Tom moved the family around the Eastern U.S. with his job promotions. Betty and her family settled in Snellville, GA in 1972 and she declared that they would not move again. She enjoyed teaching in Loganville, GA with the Walton County School System at Loganville Middle School and is thought of fondly and often by many of her former students. Betty was the "ultimate care giver" for four elderly family members in her home. She spent countless hours collecting family ancestry which culminated in 6 different family books that will be cherished through many generations. Other than family, teaching and gardening, Betty loved to follow the University of Georgia Bulldogs. She was a true fan and attended many of the football games in Athens and away. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Thomas (Tom) Goble; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Anthony Chelena of Hendersonville, NC, Kim and Buford Howell of Commerce, GA; grandchildren, Katherine "Katie" Chelena and Matthew "Matt" Chelena; brother-in-law, Allen Cassady of Jefferson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lillian Rusty Ogden and Chuck Ogden of Guntersville, AL. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are requested to the Autism Society of America or the Epilepsy Foundation in memory of Betty. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 - 7:00 pm at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, (770) 564-2726.
