Patrick HALL Obituary

Patrick Doyle Hall died tragically on October 28th, 2015 at the age of 29. His life was cut short by addiction and a heart too heavy for this world. Born on November 5th, 1985, Patrick was raised in Atlanta but remained fiercely loyal to the family, friends, and sports teams of his place of birth, Chicago. Known affectionately as "P-Man" by his siblings "Megzy," "Doodle," and "Mo," he was surrounded in life by love, humor, and bad nicknames. Patrick brought infectious laughter and an unparalleled emotional sensitivity to every situation and person he encountered. His sense of familial commitment stretched across bloodlines and continents. He will be missed by so many--from Atlanta to Utah, from Chicago to Costa Rica. In the last years of his life, Patrick committed himself to "choose health" and to help others. His work, both professionally and voluntarily, strove to help those who so often go overlooked--the homeless, the addicted, the forgotten. His extended family was blessed to have spent a wonderful weekend with him recently at the marriage of his sister Meagan to her husband Luke. He will be remembered fondly from this time, the happiest and healthiest year of his life. He is survived by his parents, Molly, Chris, and Lauren, sister Meagan and her husband Luke, brothers Matthew and Ryan, grandparents Ellie and Fred, and numerous beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. A remembrance of Patrick's life will be held on Sunday, November 1st from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Garden Hills Recreation Center (339 Pinetree Drive, Atlanta, Ga, 30305; casual attire) where Patrick spent many happy days as a child. Stories, prayers, and memories will be shared at 2:30 pm. A private burial will be held the following week. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Patrick's memory to: www.secondhelpingsatlanta.org, www.malachisstorehouse.org, www.georgiaoverdosepreven tion.org. Chris - Just heard about Patrick from Duffy. I can't imagine the pain you and yours must be going through. I'll never forget how you, in particulàr, helped me get through the night we lost Kirby. You and your family will be in my thoughts in that same spirit of support and strength, despite all the years that have passed. - EJ

My condolences to the family,

I have fond memories of rooming with your son at Academy of Swift River. We have lost touch over the years and I myself struggled with the disease of addiction. I was lucky to get sober 7 years ago and have been advocating for Recovery recently with efforts aimed at college students. Patrick reached out to me last year but didn't specifically confide in any issues; just that he liked what I was doing. I applaud your transparency in this obituary. Too often this is something that is swept under the rug because of the stigma associated with the disease of addiction. This is a disease like anything else and it does not discriminate. I am saddened by this news whenever this happens but am glad he doesn't have to struggle anymore. I would love to figure out a way to honor his life in the efforts being done to help young people in recovery here in Charleston if the family is interested.

Molly, Chris, Lauren, Meagan, Matthew, Ryan - I can't tell you how heartbroken I am for you all. I didn't know Patrick as a teenager or adult, but I remember fondly the adorable little boy who used to come see his Dad at work from time to time. Warm memories of a precious child. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Much love.

I am so sorry for the terrible loss of this young life cut short. I didn't know Patrick or your family, but his beaming face in the AJC caught my husband's eye. We left the paper on the kitchen island in hopes that our 16 year old son, who has recently begun down a destructive path, might notice it as well. We saw him surreptitiously reading the article after lunch today. I believe that Patrick touched and impacted a young life today, and I thought you might like to know.
