Family-Placed Death Notice

RUBY MARIE MURDOCK COX Ruby Marie Murdock Cox age 79 of Decatur, Ga entered into eternal rest with her Lord at High Noon, June 17, 2006 at her home under the caregiving, love and true devotion of her husband, of 63 years, W. Joe Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland & Zelma (Grogan) Murdock, brother, Ed Murdock, sisters, Opal Gentry, Juanita Batot, Sylvia Waites (Ling) and grandson, Joel Wheeler. She was the eldest of 7 siblings, born and raised in Cedartown, Ga. She graduated from Cedartown High School in 1943 at the age of 16. She worked as secretary for Polk County School Superintendent then in the secretary pool to the Air Force at Lockheed in Marietta during the Korean War. She then devoted her life to being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be remembered for all the ways she showed her love to all she knew. For a hobby, she did exquisite embrodiery on pillow cases and all her loved ones received her wonderful pillow cases. Also, she loved to remember all her friends and loved ones on special occassions with many greeting cards. Her passion was growing flowers with her green thumb especially her Star Gazer Lilies. She is survived by her husband, W. Joe Cox; daughter, Emily (Cox) Wheeler and beloved son-in-law, Bobby Wheeler, Snellville; grandson & wife, Rusty & Lisa Wheeler, great granddaughter, Jamie & Jessica Marie Wheeler, Loganville; grandson, Ken Wheeler, Snellville, great granddaughter, Katie & great grandson, Jake Wheeler, Peachtree City; granddaughter-in-law, Kelly Darby, Peachtree City; sister & brother-in-law, Jimmy & Barry Burkhalter, Lindale, Lana & John Evans, Centre, AL; Ray Batot, NC; Vassie Cox, Cedartown; J.C. & Carolyn Cox, Cedartown, many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. She was in End of Life Crossroads Hospice for several months under the loving and caring hands of Melissa Dramstead RN, Connie Warren, CNA, Jennifer Hornbuckle (Chaplain) and in her last few days, a special CNA Morticia Cannon & Debbie Jacobs. The funeral service will be held at Noon, Monday, June 19, 2006 in Eternal Hills Chapel. Interment, Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. Tributes may be made at www.mem.com.
