Family-Placed Death Notice

EDWARD SPRINGER Died January 20, 2004 at the age of 94. He was a fine Christian gentleman, a good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had many friends whom he loved and who loved him. Mr. Springer and his twin brother Robert (deceased) were born on May 7, 1909 in Atlanta, Georgia and together they owned and operated Springer Brothers' Market on Peachtree Road. He enjoyed working in his yard and was especially proud of his azaleas, camellias and roses. He was a long time deacon, Sunday School teacher and worker at the Baptist Tabernacle in Atlanta until it closed. He was more recently a member of First Baptist Church of Smyrna, Georgia where he attended all services and prayer meetings until prevented by his health. Mr. Springer is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Helen Spinks Springer. He is survived by his son and wife, Edward and Martha Springer of Marietta, daughter and husband, Suzanne and Neil Poole of Atlanta; grandchildren, Janey Towndsend, Steve Poole, Bob Poole, Scott Springer and Sam Springer; great grandchildren, Katie, Caroline, and Laney Poole; Jake Poole and one niece and two nephews. Contributions in his memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Smyrna, Georgia or Hospice Atlanta. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Smyrna. The family will receive friends at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna on Friday from 6 until 8 P.M.
