Family-Placed Death Notice

RICHARD "DICK" LITTLEPAGE deGOLIAN Mr. Richard "Dick" Littlepage deGolian died peacefully in his sleep at Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, Georgia on Oct. 30, 2006. Born March 3, 1916 to Felix Eugene deGolian and Regina Carr of Roanoke, Va., Dick grew up in the Atlanta area. He graduated from North Fulton High School and attended the University of Notre Dame for two years, then graduated from the University of Georgia. He then graduated from John Marshall Law School and served as an officer in the Merchant Marines during World War II. During this time, he met and married Frances Wimberly Mercer and had four children, Rick, Candy, Natalie, and Martha. In 1956, their family was honored as Georgia Family of the Year. Upon his return from active duty, Dick's career blossomed and he became Vice President and manager of Golian Steel & Iron Co. in East Point, Ga. He was very active in Christ the King Church in Atlanta. He was also a member of the University of Georgia Gridiron Society, a charter member of the University Yacht Club at Lake Lanier, president of the Notre Dame Club in Atlanta, and was a member of the Piedmont Driving Club. Pre-deceased by his wife, Frances, brother Felix, sister Natalie, and twin sister Martha (Munson), Dick is survived by wife Phyllis, sister Angelique (Kidd), sister-in-law Helen deGolian, son Rick, and daughters Candy (Cooper), Natalie (O'Neill), Martha (Franks) and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Patterson's Spring Hill Chapel on Saturday, November 4 at 2 p.m. with Fr. Fernando Molina - Restrepo officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon Saturday until the service hour at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at the Westview Abbey Mausoleum. Arrangements by H.M.
