Family-Placed Death Notice

ROBERT "BOB" KINARD December 16, 1916-March 4, 2007 It is with both sadness and joy that we announce the passing of our Father, Bob Kinard, early Sunday morning. We are happy that Bob is now with his beloved wife Edith and grandson, Brett. He has missed them terribly. Our father had a wonderful childhood in Crescent City, Florida. He grew up hunting and fishing. He hunted at the age of seven with a rifle that his father had given him. For spending money he hunted alligators and sold their skins, the larger ones selling for $6.00. During WWII Bob proudly served in the Airborne 187th Regimental Combat Team. After the war he came back to Ft. Benning as a Jumpmaster at the Airborne School. It was at this time that he met our mother at a dance in Atlanta while on weekend leave. They were married for 55 years. Bob was athletically gifted being the only freshman to play basketball and baseball for the University of Florida. He played baseball in the Florida State League along with his brother, Buster, He played and coached in the Army and won many championships. As well as coaching in the military, Bob also supported his son and grandchildren in their sporting endeavors. He and Edith were fixtures at Druid Hills High School and the University of Tennessee where Rudy played basketball and baseball. They also attended all of their grandson Brett's game at Lassiter High School and East Cobb Baseball where they won many World Series. His other grandchildren, Candace and David Cagle and Jeff Suttler benefited from their grandfather's support in sports at Cobb Union Soccer, East Marietta National Little League, East Cobb Baseball, Walton High School and Auburn University. Bob retired from the Army after 22 years and then from the Trust Company Bank. He was a total family man who spent his life caring and providing for the people that he loved. He is survived by his children, Billy Kinard, Rudy Kinard (Barb) and Bobbie Suttler (George). Also his grandchildren Justin, Kellie, Chase and Maci Kinard and Candace and David Cagle and Jeff Suttler. Bob also leaves behind Russ, Rusty and Sharon Umphenour and Nancy J. Webb whom he loved dearly. Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sunrise of East Cobb, especially two angels, Lois Wills and Lydia Wanjohi. Also, Rebecca Cummings of Evercare Hospice and especially Mark Wagner at The Fuqua Center at Wesley Woods for their unlimited support. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11AM to 2PM on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary, 400 Rolling Dog Ranch Lane, Ovando, Montana 59854, 406-793-6000, www.rollingdogranch.org.
