Family-Placed Death Notice

Richard "Dick" Halpern age 80, of Atlanta, died October 21, 2007 following a courageous battle with ALS. Dick worked for Coco-Cola for 23 years as a Strategic Marketing Executive and retired as Global Director of Advertising Research. He served on the board of Amnesty International USA, The Justice Center of Atlanta and Ahavath Achim Synagogue. He was on the advisory board of Population Media Center and a consultant to a number of local and global corporate and non-profit organizations. He was an adjunct professor at Georgia Tech. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Halpern, their children, Danielle and Samuel "Sam" Halpern, all of Atlanta. Dick's children, Melissa, Alex and Stephanie, all of London; grandchildren, Jamie, Ben, and Lara; sister, Necia Apfel; half brother, Seth Halpern; cousins, Eric and Harriette Schmertz; niece, Mimi Apfel; nephew, Steve Apfel, and other cousins.
